Perry County Board of Education

school logo 200x208Education in Perry County is split between the two towns, Linden and Lobelville.  Lobelville has a grade school that goes from first grade to 8th grade.  Linden has a grade school, a middle school and the Perry County High School, which is attended by students from both Linden and Lobelville.

Eric Lomax is the Director of Schools and Title IX Coordinator, and Ashley Carroll is the Assistant Director of Schools, Federal Programs Supervisor, Attendance Supervisor and Virtual School Coordinator, which was a role created during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

During the August 2021 enrollment, an application for Virtual School was made available online.  We have also provided the application pdfIN PDF FORMAT, so you can click on the link, fill out the form on your computer, and then submit it to the Board of Education directly after signing it.  At this time school attendance is in person until further notice, and masks are not required and cannot be mandated according to a bill  this past legislation Governor Lee signed into law.

Mr. Lomax issued a message from his office in October 2020, regarding COVID-19 guidelines:

With the recent spike in our county with Covid cases, I want to encourage everyone to follow our State Covid Guidelines and use your best judgment when it comes to social distancing, washing hands and wearing a mask. The school system hasn’t seen a spike and we have monitored this very closely since the beginning of the school year. I am required to post each week to the state how many positive cases are in our district. We had two cases last week district wide. I have talked to my principals and we are getting ready if we do see spike to make a decision on going to our Hybrid or Virtual Plan. I’m very proud of my Supervisors, Principals, Teachers and School Support staff for their daily efforts to keep our students and school personnel safe.

We have provided below a directory of schools with their addresses and phone numbers, for your convenience.
